[9] SPEAKER_17: President Thomas, Vice President Preciado, Member Crocker, Member Rodriguez, Member Nguyen.
[29] Nancy Thomas: Good evening. I just want to say a couple of words about 2.6
[58] Cary Knoop: So I know the NUSD versus Brazil case is addressed. And public records show that the demand from NUSD for half a million dollars from a private citizen for, in NUSD's opinion, a frivolous lawsuit was denied by the judge. Thankfully, rightfully so. It looks like it's not finished though. Lozano put some other arguments in again. And again, I just want to emphasize who is doing the fight here. Is NUSD fighting this case or is this more Lozano thing? What worries me also is that the records show that Lozano has done some Prodeo work on this, which is a little bit unusual. So again, you know, NUSD, as a reputation, and they're in the news. The AC, American Civil Liberties Union, and the First Amendment Coalition had an amicus brief saying this is unprecedented. You don't go after private citizens for half a million dollars in fees for public, you know, basically as a result of a public records request. So again, unless there are some reasons that NUSD has to sue because they would be sued if they don't show diligence in that process, I really think that this board should think about whose fight are we fighting. Is this Lozano or NUSD? Thanks.
[173] Nancy Thomas: Anyone else that wants to come forward, we will recess.
